It was a magical May morning! Crisp, cool, and clean…perfect for working calves.
Oh! Before we set off into the pasture, though, I think some introductions are in order.
If you watched my Food Network episode Saturday, you may have seen the new additions to our family.
Meet Duke (left) and Lucy (right), the Dyanamic Duo.
Lucy had a collar, but her brother Duke is very, very ornery and they wrestled until it finally came off.
They are lovely puppies, and Charlie and the other dogs are…tolerating them.
They even actually enjoy them from time to time! They’ve been showing them the ropes around the ranch and teaching them how to be proper ranch dogs.
Charlie and Walter don’t like it when the puppies lick them on the face, though, and sometimes brawls break out.
But overall, the integration has been smooth.
Every now and then, Charlie gets a little melancholy when he thinks about a time when there weren’t so many dogs with which to compete…but he knows he’s number one in his mama’s heart.
How could he not be? He’s on his mama’s couch all the time.
As I said…it was a beautiful morning!
Paige, Todd, Alex, and Johnny (our cowboy) gathered one pasture while Bryce gathered another pasture with Josh and his kids.
A stocking cap in May is always hilarious.
Paige doesn’t like her ears to get cold.
“You think we do, little missy?”
Sheesh. Some cows can be so touchy!
He’s a nice fella. He’s been working on the ranch over the past year, and we like him a lot.
They’re going to miss each other.
Todd’s especially going to miss Alex telling him what to do when they gather cattle.
I’m actually serious! Youngest child…he never minds being bossed around.
That would never, ever fly with my two middle children.
But Todd? Nope. Doesn’t bother him one bit.
Hope you’re all having a beautiful Tuesday so far!
