DSC_2638The weather has been so beautiful! Perfect for working cattle this week.

DSC_2654“Did you happen to bring breakfast this morning?”

No, sweetie. Not this morning.

DSC_2661Even though it’s not deathly cold, the grass has still died for the winter. And that’s why the cattle flock around the feed truck like white on rice.

DSC_2663I decided to take a self portrait in the side view mirror. My complexion looks a little mottled these days. I need exfoliation!

DSC_2666Yep. In the wintertime, cattle will follow a feed truck anywhere.

DSC_2691Everyone on horseback keeps the herd together from behind and on the sides.

DSC_2685And they ride out into the pasture to get any stragglers. Here are Johnny and Todd! They’ve already found a few and pushed them toward the herd.

DSC_2704Good job, boys.

DSC_2722There’s Paige.

DSC_2717There’s Bryce.

DSC_2710There are Paige and Bryce!

DSC_2740Once all the cattle are gathered into one big bunch…

DSC_2729The feed truck (with the help of the cowboys/cowgirls on horseback) leads them to the pens.

DSC_2743Ah, a nice, neat line. It’s wonderful when this happens. On some days, if the cattle are frisky, it doesn’t go this smoothly.

DSC_2753Once they’re in the pens, they get sorted and worked…

DSC_2759And the sweaty horses get to rest!

DSC_2756“Did you happen to bring breakfast this morning?”

Doesn’t matter what species it is. Everyone on the ranch looks at me and wonders where the food is. It’s part of my identity.

(And I’m okay with that.)
